Find Your Recovery!    Fix Your Recovery!

If Alcohol is a Problem For You...Find Your Recovery!

If Sobriety is a Problem For You...Fix Your Recovery!

If...

If you are investigating the idea you might have a problem with alcohol or alcoholism;

If you have been sent to AA by way of the courts, counseling or a treatment center;

If you are new to recovery and this is your first time attempting AA;

If you are an admitted alcoholic attending AA;

If you are returning to AA following a slip;

If you are a chronic slipper;

And...

If mental, emotional, physical, financial, sexual, social, moral, legal, employment, health, marriage, family or relationship problems are suggesting your life is unmanageable...

...you might want to consider the following questions to see if you identify:

Do you feel like you don't fit in?  Do you feel apart from -- separate, different, alone?  Do you lack a sense of belonging?  Do you wonder "what's wrong with me?"

Do you feel troubled by fear, loneliness, anxiety, depression?  Anger?

Do you feel "stuck" in life?  In AA?

Do you feel bad?  Do you often feel bad sober?  Are you tired of feeling bad sober?  Do you feel hopeless?

Do you find yourself running to meetings seeking relief, haunted between meetings by feelings of despair and hopelessness?  Guilt and shame?  Anxiety and depression?  Fear and resentment?

Are you balking at taking or completing all 12 Steps, questioning the effectiveness of your step work, or wondering "is this all there is" in life?  In being sober?

Are you thinking about not going to meetings?  Have you stopped going to meetings, perhaps because "they" make you crazy or the "God chatter" is just too much to bear?

Are you thinking AA won't work for you or isn’t working for you?

Are you thinking you may not be alcoholic after all?

Are you thinking the unmanageability of your life may be due to an emotional disorder rather than alcoholism?

Are you considering prescribed medication to chemically manage your emotions?

Are you presently using anti-depressant medication or other medications in an attempt to chemically manage your emotions?  If so, is it possible -- out of sheer desperation for an answer to your dilemma -- that you might have feigned, embellished, exaggerated or invented your symptomatic report to the prescribing doctor or psychiatrist?

If...

If you identify with a number of these questions, we understand.  We know how you feel for we have been there too!  Do not be discouraged.  More has been revealed!

We want to help get you on the road to recovery ... for fun and for free.

Did we say free?!?

You must be thinking "yeah, right!!!"  Well, financially speaking, attendance is free.*

Why free?  We believe you have already "paid the price!"

SO WHY SPEND 10, 20, 30, 40, even FIFTY THOUSAND DOLLARS for an alcoholism treatment experience -- one most likely based in medical, pharmaceutical, psychiatric or psychological services whose typical "we can be all things to all people" approach asserts a common misunderstanding that alcoholism and (drug) addiction are the same thing, an approach often referred to as substance abuse and chemical dependency treatment -- BEFORE YOU TRY our workshop methodology that embraces a proven 75% success rate for alcoholics?

Now that is a good question indeed!

Our workshop is designed to get you started on the road to recovery -- or back on the road of recovery -- without the added stress of a large financial burden, unmanageable time constraints, or record keeping that can lead to public disclosure.

Our workshop is dedicated to three goals:

  • Alcoholism (self) determination;

  • Twelve Steps preparation;

  • Successful transition into long term recovery (AA).

In the process, we do not interfere with or compromise AA's usual twelfth step work nor do we present information that contradicts AA's description of the spiritual disease of alcoholism or AA's approach to recovery from alcoholism in Alcoholics Anonymous.

The focus of The Big Book Lives On workshop is three-fold:

  • Illuminate an obscure, deadly aspect of the spiritual disease of alcoholism -- The ISM Factor;

  • Identify and describe how symptoms associated with The ISM Factor adversely affect and threaten recovery;

  • Share actions we take to side-step and overcome these threats and adversities.

If you have a problem with alcohol and don't know what to do, or you are physically sober and have a problem with sobriety and don't know what to do, perhaps we can help.  Please feel free to contact us at Friends of the Big Book Live On.

*Except for a minimal registration fee set by the host committee to cover their expenses.
